The Nina Blouse is a classic ca. 1910 blouse that works equally well in your historical or historybounding wardrobe. Make it as a delicate ‘lingerie waist’ in lace and light fabrics with lace insertion, or as a businesslike shirtwaist for the new professional woman in crisp cotton or tropical weight wool.
View A is taken directly from the original garment, and has line of lace inset down the center front, slightly gathered 3/4 length cuffed sleeves, a yoke with no shoulder seam, and a high boned collar. It is designed to be made with a lace yoke attached with lace insertion, and lace collar and cuffs.
View B s based on other extant garments and period images. It has the center front cut on the fold, full length sleeves, a two-piece neck yoke, and a high round neckline finished with narrow lace. It is designed to be made entirely in fabric.
Both views features a V-shaped yoke, tucks releasing into fullness with a gathered pigeon-breast effect, a front peplum which allows the blouse to sit smoothly under skirts, and hook and snap fastenings at the back.
Mix and match sleeves, necklines, and lace finishes for a variety of looks. The blouse can be worn with a matching skirt to make a ‘dress in two parts’, or attached to a skirt pattern to make a one piece dress.
The Nina Blouse is designed to be worn over a 1900s or 1910s corset, such as the Persis Corset or the Rilla Corset, but can also be worn without a corset as a modern garment.
The pattern comes with a full fitting and alterations guide, and suggestions for adapting the pattern for a modern fit.
