Te Aro Dress & Top Pattern || #2002

The Te Aro is a versatile dress and top designed for midweight knits. Mix and match sleeves, neck lines, hem finishes, and hood, and use contrast bindings and facings for a variety of looks.
View A features long sleeves finished with cuff bands, a matching hem band, side pockets with curved pocket opening, and an oversized hood. It's designed to end just above the knee.
View B is top length and features a curved hem with side slits and a dropped back hem, both faced in lightweight knit fabric. It has short sleeves finished with bands, and a scooped neck.
View C features extravagant gathered sleeves in lightweight woven fabrics, a drop hem faced with knit fabric, the same pockets as View A, and a shallow scooped neck. The dropped hem is designed to sit just above the knee in front, and just below the knee in back.

Body all views, sleeves Views A & B, hood View A: midweight stable knit fabrics with 30-50% stretch, including midweight jersey, lighter weight sweatshirting, waffle knits, heavier merino knits, etc. Softer, drapier knits work better than stiffer knits. Light, clinging knits are not recommended.
Neck band, all Views, cuffs Views A & B: Midweight jersey or ribbed knit with added spandex for good recovery and 40-60% stretch across the width.
Hood lining View A, hem facings Views B & C: Lightweight knit fabric with 25%-50% stretch.
Views C Sleeves: Very lightweight woven fabrics such as chiffon, crepe de chine, voile, rayon challis, etc.

Elisabeth is wearing View A, in Size 38. Her Te Aro dress is made in black & white striped cotton-blend boucle knit with 40% stretch, and hood lining and bands in fuchsia viscose-lycra knit with 45% in both directions.
Danielle is wearing View B, in Size 54. Her Te Aro top is made in striped cotton/hemp blend with 35% stretch. The cuffs & neck band are in midweight cotton-spandex with 50% stretch, and good recovery. The hem is faced in lightweight white cotton jersey with 35% stretch.
Danielle is also wearing View C, in Size 54, shortened 5cm in the body, and 3cm in the sleeves. Her Te Aro dress is made in lightweight ponte de roma with 45% stretch. The neck band is in the same fabric. The woven sleeves are in viscose chiffon in William Morris 'Rabbit' print.
Elisabeth is also wearing View C with View B neckline, in Size 38. Her Te Aro dress is made in black organic cotton midweight jersey-knit with 30% stretch. The neck band is in cotton-spandex with 40% stretch and good recovery. The woven sleeves are in vintage rayon crepe.
