Size "1-4" SEWING PAPER PATTERN
Difficulty: Beginner
The "Scotty Ventilated Hip and Bustle Pad" is a replica pattern of an antique 1900-1904 bustle pad in my collection graded into 4 sizes to best fit your shape . Silhouette enhancers of this type are essential to achieving a high-fashion silhouette for the Edwardian Period, ca 1898-1910. This hip and bustle pad features a graduated quilting pattern that helps the garment seem invisible on the body and grommets that were popular to help with "ventilation" since this garment was worn close to the skin and under the corset.
This pattern is recommended for "Beginner" sewists. A basic knowledge of sewing assembly is helpful as is a knowledge of how to install grommets into fabric (Sewists may decide to omit the grommets entirely and simply tack-quilt [tufting] instead of using grommets). Instructions are for machine stitching with hand-done tufts for the middle.
