Virgil's Fine Goods Exclusive Printed Reproduction Fabric on 100% Cotton Lawn
"Sarah's Sprig'd Cotton" is a direct reproduction of a chintz in Amber's collection of antique textiles featuring lovely blues and subdued reds in the flowers with an ever-so-slight ecru ground. The original pieces are from fragments of an 18th century quilt from the 1780s-1790s. The textiles are thought to be French, as there is no indication of a blue thread in the selveges of the fabric. Examination of the fibers in the original indicate that it is likely a cotton/linen blend. We decided to print this on a light and airy cotton lawn, very similar to fabrics from the 1790s used for transitional and early Regency era gowns.
Our reproduction is tightly woven, slightly sheer, and has a very light drape with a smooth buttery texture. This fabric would be suitable for gowns, children's clothing, petticoats and drapey home furnishings.
This fabric is a certified organic textile and is sold by the yard. VFG Fabrics are limited quantities, but may be restocked throughout the year.
