Virgil's Fine Goods Exclusive Printed Fabric on 100% Linen fabric.
"Walton Diamonds" is a historically inspired print designed by Amber. It is directly inspired by the sitter in Henry Walton's 1775 painting, "Plucking the Turkey," held by the Tate Museum. In the painting, a young woman in a logwood purple printed bedgown is plucking a turkey with a checked blue apron and green (presumably wool) petticoat. Having spent many hours studying this painting while copying it for a gouache class in college, Amber has been obsessing over recreating this print; which no modern equivalent could be found, until now! Our inspired print is intended to capture the look of a resist printed textile using a diamond spangle design with a visible dot in the middle. Similar prints were popular in India during the 18th century, then appropriated for the European market and produced in France and England. Original prints have irregularities in the prints, which we have featured in our design.
