Virgil's Fine Goods Exclusive Printed Reproduction Fabric on 50/50 Cotton/Linen
"Cait's Flowers" is a direct reproduction of a block print in Amber's collection of antique textiles. The original pieces are fragments of a chair cover that have been pieced extensively. The textiles are thought to be French, as there is no indication of a blue thread in the selveges. A well known example similar to this piece is in the collection of the Musée des Arts decoratifs, called the "Roses et rayures" (ca 1775) but is best known as the "Rose Garden " fabric for the Felicity American Girl Doll. Examination of the fibers in the fragments indicate that it is likely a cotton/linen blend. This reproduction is intended to look as it would right off the bolt, keeping the sometimes misaligned overdye prints in the reproduction.
Our reproduction is tightly woven and has a light-medium drape with a slightly slubby texture similar to the original. This fabric would be suitable for gowns, banyans/wrappers, bedgowns, children's clothing, petticoats and lightly used home furnishings.
This fabric is a certified organic textile and is sold by the yard. VFG Fabrics are limited quantities, but may be restocked throughout the year.
