Elbow Ruffles and Tuckers are a staple in a fashionable woman's 18th century wardrobe. These items were readily available from Millinery shops to provide an easily laundered and changed out addition to a woman's gown. A length of lace or handrolled fabric trim was typically stitched and gathered onto a tape of some sort to provide a sturdy surface to lightly baste onto the elbow or neck lining of the garment.
HOW TO WEAR: Simply (baste using a running stitch) the linen tape of the tucker or elbow ruffle to the inner lining of your garment. When ready to change out or launder, clip the threads used to baste the ruffle. Handwash only.
