Virgil's Fine Goods Exclusive Printed Fabric on 100% Cotton
"Constance Sprigs" is a direct reproduction print of a small fragment from an antique pocket in Amber's collection. This reproduction is made to imitate the resist print + hand painted accent on a rich brown ground. Resist-printed brown-ground textiles were increasingly popular through the 1780s–1790s. Similar printed fabrics are held at the Cornell University Collection, Historic Deerfield Collection, and the American Costume Studies Collection. This reproduction is intended to look as though it would have fit right in with 18th century textiles and features some slightly misaligned colors here and there.
Our print is made on a very light but tightly woven cotton cambric with a light drape and very smooth texture; perfect for summer applications or would be lovely lined with another fabric for heavier garments. This fabric would be suitable for gowns, banyans/wrappers, bedgowns, children's clothing, petticoats and lightly used home furnishings.
This fabric is a certified organic textile and is sold by the yard. VFG Fabrics are limited quantities, but may be restocked throughout the year.
