The G105 Cap Pattern Bundle includes 3 styles of caps present and popular during the 1770s in Europe and North America for colonist fashions. These patterns were developed by careful study of portraiture, sketches, and images from the period and are intended to be a great introduction into cap making.

The pattern instructions are for hand-stitched construction, as studied in period originals. Techniques explained in the instructions include rolled hems, whip-rolled gathers, and the butted whipstitch seam, to name a few. Also included are tips on trimming and styling your cap to your personal taste.

Recommended Materials

Amount: Approximately 1/2–2/3y x 45" (0.4–0.5m x 106cm) fabric needed per cap
Types of Fabric: Light but crisp cottons such as organdy, voile, or muslin OR lightweight linens such as cambric, handkerchief-lightweight or fine weights OR plain weave silks such as organza or batiste.

About the Models

Amber is wearing each of the three caps included in this pattern.

Elise is made with a handkerchief weight linen for the caul and bands, with a crisp organdy for the ruffles.

Annabel is made with a very fine silk organza a.k.a. "silk gauze" in 18th century writings.

Bess is made of a handkerchief weight linen.

Children's Cap Pattern not included.
